Today is the last day for the PG animal facility under its current management

As many of you know, today is the last for animals at the current PG facility under the leadership of the Animal Protection League. We hope that all the animals are transferred, but know that adoptions are still down and owner relinquishments are still up--and while the new shelter facility itself is much larger, the budget will remain the same.

Here's an article about the move.

Please consider adopting a shelter animal now! The current facility is here:

Do you recognize this dog?

This dog was wandering around 63rd Place (between Jason and Josslyn). It seems to be a very friendly senior doggy. There is a red collar with outdated tag info that doesn't include ownership name, # or address.

If this is your dog or you know the owners, please contact 202 812-3233

Another Kitten Needs A Home!

Baby Boy is another recently rescued kitten from right here in Cheverly. He's approx. 4 weeks old. Though he's mostly black, these pictures don't really show the little tuft of white fur around his chest area. He's such a playful and affectionate kitten who will purr on command for treats and a good belly rub! He also loves to nestle close, whenever possible. His foster parent has a crazy work schedule, so this kitten deserves a home where he'll get lots of love and attention asap.

If you or anyone you know is interested in adopting him, please contact us via cheverlycarneys@gmail.com or at 202 812-3233.

(these pictures don't convey just how incredibly cute he is)

Cheverly Kittens Need A Home

Brothers, Sinatra and Tuffy are approx. 6 week old, healthy kitties recently rescued from a hard outdoor life by a kindly Cheverly resident. She's currently caring for them, but we're looking to find them a forever home. Sinatra (Siamese mix) is playful and affectionate while Tuffy (gray tabby) is still working that out. He does remain more cautious, though nothing a little time and affection won't change. Both kittens love their treats and are looking for a home where they will be loved and nurtured. They do not need to be adopted together but preference will be given to a home where they will not be an only cat.

For more details on adopting either or both, please contact us via cheverlycarneys@gmail.com or by calling 202 812-3233.

Three Newfoundland girls at PG--in need of rescue

I have a newfie mix and adore the breed. They are fabulous dogs--extremely loyal and relatively mellow inside (though a bit drooly). There are three at Prince George’s County Animal Management Group, 8311 D'Arcy Road, Forestville, MD. 20747; 301-499-8300; www.princegeorgescounty.gov or for lost and found inquires only: www.petharbor.com or email fllogan@co.pg.md.us or call 301-499-8308. Dogs at PG don't have a lot of time to find a rescue, so please consider helping these girls!
