Rex, a one year old border collie wandered from his back yard this evening while his family was eating dinner. They live near the community center. He is a black and white border collie with floppy ears. If you see him or have him, please call me at 301-980-6154 (cell) or 301-386-3782 (home).

Free Pit Bull Spaying, Neutering and Health Screening

Date: September 04, 2009
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Location: The Washington Animal Rescue League's Medical Center

At the League's free one-day medical clinic for all pit bull and pit bull mixes, dogs will be spayed or neutered and given rabies, DHPP and bordetella shots. There are no charges for any of these services, no income or residence restrictions, and no appointments necessary. The clinic will be on a first come, first serve basis. Dogs must have an empty stomach for surgery so they should not be fed after 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3rd. All dogs should be dropped off at the League's Medical Center between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4th and picked up between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. No rescue groups, please. Do you know where your cats are?

Somebody has been trapping feral cats in the area around Belleview Avenue and Kilmer Street. Apparently, this started a few weeks back and is still going on. If you care for ferals or even let your indoor cat outside, please keep a close eye on them. When these cats are trapped, they go straight to the PG Shelter and are put down. They get no second chances!

There is a more humane and effective way to deal with feral cats. If you or a neighbor cares for ferals, but need help stabilizing their population, please contact me thru cheverlycarneys@gmail.com. Feel free to contact me if you are also just interested in additional information and resources that pertain to feral cats.

Lost Homeward Trails foster dog, Langley Park, MD

Mallory has been missing since last night, August 5.

Missing 6 1/2 month old Yorkie poo, Named Spike, Very friendly, Brown tones and scruffy looking, lost around hillside and Inwood St. Please E-mail if you found him or spotted him. We miss him very much.

Found - older calico kitty

A kindly Cheverly resident found this little girl in her yard on Cheverly Avenue. She quickly noticed that she was ill and took the cat to the Washington Humane Society - 7319 Georgia Avenue, NW, Washington DC. She's still there. They examined her and believe that she's an older cat with possible liver issues. They're hydrating her and will see how she responds. However, they're concerned, as she's also very emaciated. The good news is that she's still feisty and playful.

Lost, found, and seen dogs

Seen dog: small furry yellow dog, possibly a Pomeranian mix, seen by me up and down Euclid, Lake, Valley, Forest, and Crest, all on the west side. Very shy, not interested in food, people, or dogs. Wearing a collar.

Lost: Rocky, signs on the west side of town--black dog. Details to come on this one.

Found: near 7-11 today, male, small, young dog without a collar. Details to come on this one, too.
